During the fascist regime, the Europa-Novacella neighboorhood
(previously “Graul-Neustift”) got chosen to be the new workingclass
district, close to the new industries. Grass fields and blu
skies left space for roads, compound buildings and a smoky
atmosphere from factories’ pollutants.
With the power of ideas – and augmented reality – Young Inside
Bolzano and Bepart partnered up into a workshop, and gave
space to desires, placing citizens back at the center of their
neighbourhood.
Memories and technology come together with one goal: to give
new life to what has been and imagine what will be.
During this whorkshop, we interviewed historical residents of
the neighbourhood and blended voices with archival material
provided by the resident into an animated collage.
The short video animation is accessible by triggering the posters
hung around the Europa-Novacella’s streets. In this way,
passers could see and hear the testimonies surrounded by the
landscape that shaped them.
